Substitute Instructor - Systems and Network Program (Terrace)

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for Substitute Instructor positions in the Information Systems and Networking Diploma program as outlined below. The salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale, ranging from $41.84 to $66.37 per hour plus pay in lieu of vacation and benefits.

Duties: The substitute Instructor will provide back-up coverage for instructors in the program.  Responsibilities will encompass facilitating student academic achievement, including course preparation, teaching, assessing student work, and providing constructive feedback, guidance, support and direction. 

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in closely related discipline. Additional post-secondary education and training in teaching, (e.g. A Master’s Degree in Adult Education, a Provincial Teaching Certificate or, a Provincial Instructor's Diploma) is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • AZ 800, 801 or similar is required to teach ITAS 141
  • Practical experience in IT project management is required to teach ITAS 164
  • Experience teaching in a variety of formats (i.e.: online, face to face and through distributed learning)
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching with the ability to inspire and mentor learners
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the local Indigenous communities 

The successful applicant will possess a broad range of content knowledge, confidence and relevant experience. Experience should demonstrate excellent technology and group facilitation skills.
