Commercial Vehicle Inspection (CVIP/PVIP)

The Commercial Vehicle Inspection course prepares mechanics to inspect and certify vehicles to government safety standards as required by law. Applicants must be licensed heavy duty, automotive, or commercial transport mechanics. The CVIP/PVIP course includes:

  • up-to-date information on the inspection program and BC regulations
  • inspection Facility responsibilities
  • performing inspections to current standards; completing the latest on-line inspection forms

The practical tests and final written test are required for successful completion. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive provincial government certification issued by CVSE, a division of Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Participants must hold a B.C. Trade Qualification or an Inter-provincial Red-Seal Certificate in at least one of the following:

  • Automotive Service Technician
  • Heavy Duty Equipment Technician
  • Commercial Transport Vehicle Mechanic
  • Commercial Trailer Mechanic
  • Motorcycle Mechanic

Participants must:

  • bring Canadian Standard's Association (CSA) approved safety footwear (steel-toe boots) for the practical instruction
  • bring Coveralls

  • Indigenous Entrepreneurship Micro-Credential

    The Indigenous Entrepreneurship Micro-Credential is a 75-hour training program designed to address
    the lack of accessible, culturally relevant business education for Indigenous learners in BC. Community consultations identified a strong need for practical, Indigenous-led training to support entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and sustainable business development. The micro-credential consists of five CE courses, each offering 15 hours of instruction and applied learning.
