Food Services Attendant (On-Call)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a casual/on-call term for Food Services Attendant. The appointments will commence April 01, 2026 and end April 01, 2027. Some offsite work maybe required. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Support Staff Salary Scale, Level 4: $27.91 hourly, plus pay in lieu of vacation and benefits.

Duties:  Reporting to the Food Services Coordinator, this position will provide responsive, friendly service ensuring customers are satisfied with their experience in the café/ cafeteria and/or at off-site events.

Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Interacting with customers in a manner that provides a positive customer experience, addressing minor customer complaints as they arise
  • Prepare menu items in accordance with customer orders including the use of espresso machine and blenders
  • Operate cash register, visa/debit machine and deposit cash
  • Ensuring that work areas are ready to service customers (i.e.: cleaning surfaces, equipment, and floors, removing trash, and confirming that tools are in working order)
  • Follow all established food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Other duties of similar scope and complexity as assigned 

Qualifications

Grade 12 education (or equivalent) is required. Food Safe and Serving-it-Right required or are willing to learn. Preference will also be given to candidates with recent experience in food services. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required skills and abilities include:

  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve customer service issues with tact and diplomacy to create a positive customer experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to lift and carry bulky/heavy items weighing up to 40 lbs
