Airbrakes Endorsement Instructor (Term)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a non-regular on-call Instructor for Airbrakes Endorsement course as outlined below (subject to minimum enrollment). Evening/weekend work and travel maybe required. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale ($37.55 - $53.80 per hour).

Term: April 7, 2026 to August 31, 2027

Duties: CETRAN 701 – Responsibilities include delivering Air Brakes instruction and conducting participant pre trip assessments in accordance with ICBC requirements. Each course consists of 22 instructional hours. Additional duties include course preparation, evaluation of student work, and other responsibilities related to the delivery of the Air Brakes program.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills: ICBC Airbrakes Instructor Certification, preferably with ICBC Airbrake Assessment certification. Preferred certificates and experience include a Provincial Instructors’ Diploma (PID) and experience training on an individual and group basis. CMTN may provide the training to become an Airbrakes instructor.

Required skills and abilities include:

  • Strong technical knowledge and relevant industry experience
  • a valid B.C. driver’s license with a clean abstract
  • Excellent group facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to foster a motivational learning environment for a diverse student base
  • Customer/Client service oriented
  • Adaptable with the ability to work effectively within a variety of diverse situations
