Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Prince Rupert campus, invites applications for a non-regular instructor in our Applied Coastal Ecology (ACE) program. This appointment will commence May 16, 2025, and end June 13, 2025. The salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor salary scale, ranging from $37.55 to $66.37 per hour.

 Duties:  The instructor will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students in the ACE program. This includes co- teaching, evaluation of student work and guiding students by providing feedback, correction, encouragement, and direction in the following course:

  • ACE 154: Surveying (30 hours)
  • ACE 141: Coastal Forest measurements (30 hours)
  • ACE 175: Field Excursion on Haida Gwaii (30 hours, overnight trips include working on weekends & evenings)

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to coastal / marine resources management and forestry resource management. Experience includes 5 years related professional experience and experience teaching in post-secondary education.

  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for the best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom
  • Ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with the Indigenous communities, is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain students in a post-secondary setting
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • SVOP boat operator certification, Med-A3 First Aid, Radio Operator certificate and Class 4 Driver’s License is preferred
