College Professor – English & Humanities (subject to minimum enrolment)

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a College Professor for a regular instructor in our English & Humanities program. Salary will be in accordance with the CUPE Instructor Scale: (range: $5,775.84 - $9,255.50 per section).

Duties: The College Professors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students. The successful applicant should demonstrate competency to teach in the discipline of English and at least one related humanities discipline. Duties include course preparation, teaching and guiding students, providing feedback, encouragement, evaluation. College professors are also expected to contribute service to the College and surrounding communities.

Courses scheduled for 2025-2026 include:

· ENGL 101: University Writing

· ENGL 102: Introduction to Literature

· ENGL 151: Introduction to Technical Writing I

· ENGL 154: Technical Writing II and Digital Media

· ENGL 190: Introduction to University Writing

· ENGL 217: Indigenous Literatures

Courses may vary from year to year. Other frequently offered first- and second-year university level courses in the humanities and adjacent disciplines include Philosophy, History, Women’s Studies, and/or Political Science.

Qualifications

A minimum of bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in English (or related discipline such as rhetoric, literature, or composition) along with teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience with experiential teaching formats.

Required attributes/experience includes:

· Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based teaching with the ability to inspire and motivate learners

· Knowledge and enthusiasm for contemporary practices to promote and respect equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, learning and professional contexts

· Demonstrated excellence with intercultural competence, particularly in regards to local Indigenous communities

· Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills

· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
