Health Care Assistant Program Instructor (Smithers Campus)

Job description and duties

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Smithers campus, invites applications for a term Instructor in the Health Care Assistant program as outlined below. The appointment will commence March 4, 2024 and end May 2, 2024. (subject to enrolment) Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale: ($32.45 to $47.15 per hour). Reimbursement for expenses and travel may be available where necessary.

This position will be responsible for contributing to the academic success of students by teaching the following HCAS courses from one of our above listed campuses, in face-to-face settings.

HCAS 1080:   Practice Experience in Multi-Level and/or Complex Care (up to 186 hours)

                    Smithers: Bulkley Lodge (5:45 am – 1:45 pm)

Qualifications

Current BC registration as a LPN, RN, or RPN along with demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (i.e. completion of Provincial Instructors Diploma or equivalent education or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references or positive performance evaluations and student course evaluations).

Required experience includes a minimum of 2 years of full-time nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential community, acute care, and community care settings. Required nursing work experience includes experience in working with older adults with complex health needs; and experience or orientation in home support, multi-level/complex care and acute care.Preference will be given to candidates who can teach from one of the three campus campuses mentioned above

The successful candidate will be adaptable, flexible and comfortable with change and technology, and have excellent organizational, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
